In 2019 we were lucky enough to be invited to the rally and allowed to visit the bivac and VIP areas, the 12 minute video compilation is combination of intro, me racing with Fernando on the Dakar track, meeting our Peru off road friends The Dakar race and the VIP areas.

The Dakar Rally is a legendary motorsport event. Originating in 1978, it was the brainchild of French motorcycle racer Thierry Sabine, who envisioned an epic off-road challenge after getting lost in the Libyan desert during a race.

The Paris to Dakar Rally, has not run to Dakar since 2008. After 30 years Paris to Dakar in Africa It was moved to South America in 2009 and lasted till 2019 in South America. the Dakar is known as the world’s biggest rally.

As the saying goes it is not what you know but who you know. A life time dream was to visit the Dakar rally and this time, with the help of Carlos in Peru who introduced me to Fernando the ex Dakar rally driver charge of the Dakar section around Huacachina, Gino a member of the local 4WD club and Hans our Dutch friend who lives in Lima the dream became reality.
