Slovenia Highlights

officially the Republic of Slovenia located in Central Europe. Slovenia is mostly mountainous and forested. It has landborders with Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. Slovenia offers, mountains (Alps) Meadows, lakes caves and the Adriatic sea and its famous city Piran. The caves of Postoyna are the most impressive caves in the world, Lake bled and its beautiful castle, Triglav national Park and a variety of medieval towns such as Ptui, Skofja Loka, Staniel, Vipavski Kriz, Smartno. This is a small country in the Balkan area of Europe and it was the first former Yugoslav republic to join the European Union in 2004. Unlike Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina Slovenia’s independence from Yugoslavia was almost bloodless. Relations with Croatia are still not 100% due to sea and land borders dating back to the break up of the former Yugoslavia. Like so many other European countries we did not spend a lot of time in the area, but it is on our list once we start to explore Europe after we finished our around the world trip.
